Rajini's Rana to resume from December

The shooting dates of tri-lingual “Raana” with Tamil superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in the lead role, would be announced in December, Eros International, producers of the film said here today.

The statement from the Mumbai based company came amid reports that the production of the movie was abandoned after Rajinikanth suffered from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of ‘Raana,’ and was admitted to hospital.

Stating that they don’t want to rush Rajnikanth, who is now recuperating after getting treatment for a kidney ailment in India and in Singapore, Eros International Media Managing Director Sunil Lulla said, “it is a proud project for us and we don’t mind waiting to be a part of this ambitious project with Rajinikanth, as we want him to rest for some more time”.

“Hence we have decided to take the decision on the shooting dates in December 2011. The shooting of the film has been delayed as Rajinikanth became unwell, after the start of the shooting of the film”, he said.
K S Ravikumar, the film director said, “we have delayed the start of the shooting, as we dont want to rush him (Rajinikanth) to start the film shooting immediately, as the film has Rajini playing triple role and has some stunning stunt sequences”.

The movie would be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages and Oscar Winner A R Rahman would compose music for the film.

This news comes in the wake of buzz doing rounds in the film circles across the country that Superstar might do a cameo in the upcoming ‘Ra One.’

This SRK-Kareena Kapoor offing has been making news right from early days of its conception. Now when the film is almost over and readying to hit theatres there is more hype than ever. The latest that we heard was that southern Superstar Rajinikanth will be appearing in a cameo in this mega-budget film.

But the family of the Superstar has reportedly responded in the negative regarding Superstar's role in ‘Ra One.’ The reason being given is that Superstar is giving top priority to his ‘Rana.’ Not only that, the Superstar is also taking all care that he does not give his health a beating.

So with this, all rumours about the Superstar shooting for ‘Ra One’ as some even suggested from the Hyderabad studios, can be put to rest, until some solid piece of evidence from the Superstar’s kin is conveyed.

The Superstar will soon make his presence in KS Ravikumar’s ‘Rana.’ As hinted earlier, the talkie portions involving the lead actor will be shot first and then the director will move on with the other sequences. All associated with the filming are taking absolute care that nothing to strain the health of the superstar will be involved. The script too is touted to have been slightly altered to suit superstar’s health condition.

Ajith to leave for Himalayas on Rajini's advice

 The spiritualist in Ajith is in full form of late. The Thala has been regularly visiting places of worship and is even planning to leave for Himalayas. "Rajini sir had told me a lot about the holy mountain. I am eagerly waiting for an opportunity to go there," he says.

"Recently, I visited Guruvayur and Chottanikarai temples in Kerala, Chamundeeswari and Moogambikai shrines in Karnataka and Nagoor and Velankanni in Tamil Nadu. I also took a padha yatra to Tirupati from Thiruvanmiyur four times," discloses Ajith.

"It takes five days for me to reach Tirumala from Chennai. We a gang of friends have made it a regular habit to go on a padha yatra to worship Lord Balaji. Now, after reading the books gifted by the Superstar, I am seriously planning to go to Himalayas."

Saying that it wish is that everyone should remember him as a gentleman, Ajith says, "There is no point in earning bad name. The success of one's life is in the goodwill he/she creates. It will speak a lot on our behalf."

Rajini's family Shatters Salman's dreams

While Shahrukh Khan successfully convinced Rajinikanth for a cameo in his forthcoming Bollywood film Ra.One, Salman Khan has failed to win over the Tamil superstar's heart! Well, theDabangg actor, who was reportedly keen to make a biopic on the actor, has not got permission from Rajini's family.

Reports say that Salman Khan's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri, who is on cloud nine after the success ofBodyguard, wanted to make the film on Rajinikanth's life story. He had also told the same to Salman for which the actor had given a green signal. But the superstar's family seems to be unhappy after they came to know from the media about their plans.

Rajini's daughter and producer Soundarya Rajinikanth recently told that they have not been approached by concerned people. But if they meet her personally, the family might think about it. Meanwhile, we hear that Rajinikanth was okay with the idea of making a film on his rag to riches story but his family objected to this. Hence, they have told 'no' to Atul Agnihotri. It was said that the makers wanted to portray his journey as a conductor to the invincible superstar of Tamil cinema.

However, Salman Khan has denied the reports of his dream to star in Rajinikanth's biopic. The actor claims that he is a big fan of the superstar but he has no plans of bringing the actor's life story on silver screen.

Ajith says 'Rajini is Dhronacharya and I am his Ekalaiva'

Comparing his relationship with Superstar Rajinikanth with that of Ekalaiva and Dhronacharya in the great epic Mahabharata, Ajith has said he had learnt many things from the numero uno actor of Tamil cinema by watching him from distance.

"I shaped up my career on the lines of Rajini sir. Like how there was no one to support him when he made his foray in the industry, I too didn't have anyone to back me up. But I got enough inspiration from the Superstar. He is my Dhronacharya and I am his Ekalaiva," said the 'Thala'.

Saying that he would like to dedicate the success of his 50th film 'Mankatha' to Rajini, Ajith said, "At the same time, I would like to personally express my gratitude to each member of the cast and crew, who gave nothing but their best to Mankatha."

On many young actors of Tamil film industry considering him as their role model, the star, who is currently busy shooting for 'Billa 2', said, "The mere word 'thanks' is not enough to express my feelings. Honestly speaking, I don't know how to react."

Meanwhile, when a leading daily quizzed him whether he will enter politics, Ajith expressed that he strongly feels each citizen should do their duty which is more then enough. Quoted the Thala, "I act, earn, pay taxes, do the little good I can, vote and take care of my family. I expect my fans will do the same. Leave politics to the Government, they'll take care. Its no good if everyone enters politics. We talk of corruption and bribery, but I strongly believe each Indian is responsible for this. How many of us follow basic things such as traffic rules in our lives? Lets do our duties, even that's as good as politics".

What Rajini doing in Shahrukh Khan's Ra One

Superstar Rajinikanth will be seen in a cameo in Shahrukh Khan’s sci-fi Ra.One. The Tamil actor has reportedly agreed to do a guest appearance in the forthcoming Bollywood film.

Sources say that Shahrukh Khan wanted Rajinikanth to be part of the film and that is the reason why the King of Bollywood recently said that Ra.One will pay tribute to the superstar’s Endhiran.

Rajinikanth’s portion will be shot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad on October 3. It is said that the Tamil superstar will deliver the dialogue - Naan oru thadava sonna, nooru thadava sonna madhiri (When I have said something once, it should be assumed that I have said it a hundred times) – from his blockbuster movie Baasha.

It is learnt that Shahrukh Khan was thinking to have a lookalike of Rajinikanth but changed his mind to rope in the superstar himself for the scene. The Endhiran actor will be reportedly seen in a scene, where the Bollywood actor is under threat from deadly gangsters.

Rajini’s Rana latest tidbits!

Now that Rajini is back from Singapore after recovering his health all seems to be falling in place for Rana. Director of the film K.S. Ravikumar is regularly in touch with Rajini and taking his suggestions on how to go about with the project. Now that the actor is back the director has called all the cast and crew of Rana who were working for other projects.

The director has given consent for the artists to go ahead with their other assignments during Rajini’s absence. Deepika’s call sheets have also been taken by Ravi Kumar from September. The actress has already confessed that she will available at any given point of time to work in Rana. Rajini and Ravi Kumar are planning to shoot the dialogue scenes of the film first.

Coming to the stunts part they have decided to shoot later as Rajini needs to perform some horse rides, sword fights and heavy action sequences. These scenes are being altered by keeping superstar’s health condition in mind. So now the fans can rejoice as they were carried off by the rumours all these days which said that Rana has been stalled.

Superstar Rajinikanth to attend a public function!

Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to step out of his farm house for the first time after returning from Singapore. He is going to take part in a public function in Coimbatore this week.

Rajini is going to take part in a devotional event of which is for 2 days. He will be present at the Sathabhishekam (80th birthday celebrations) of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, which will take place from July 20 to 22 in Coimbatore. According to the close sources of the celebration committee it is known that the top actor is the great follower of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and he already gave his okay to attend the birthday celebrations.

Rajini will be giving his first speech in a public meeting after coming into the country and will speak about his experiences with Swami Dayananda Saraswati at the occasion.

These two days celebrations will take place at the famous Codessia Hall in Coimbatore where big guns from various fields like business, cinema, politics and journalism are expected to attend the birthday celebrations to get the blessings of the Swamiji.

Rajini chilling out at his Kelambakkam farmhouse!

Rajini who is back in Chennai after six weeks is chilling out at his Kelambakkam farm house which is about 40 kilometers from his Poes Garden residence.

The star is going to take rest at his farm house for the next two months. He called his close friends like Amitabh Bachchan, Telugu actor Mohan Babu and said that he is going to take total rest for the next couple of months. Rajini’s family members are not allowing any guest to visit him at his farm house during these two months. Tamilnadu Police has provided heavy security cover for his farm house.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu former Chief Minister President M Karunanidhi has called Rajini on Thursday evening to know the status of his health. Karunanidhi expressed his happiness on the return of Rajini to Chennai after successfully undergoing treatment.

Superstar Rajini who is well-known for caring and affectionate behavior has in return enquired about Karunanidhi’s health and also the well-being of Kanimozhi.

Rajinikanth at his farmhouse in Kelambakkam!

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth returned here Wednesday night, after spending over six weeks in Singapore for treatment of kidney-related ailments.

The actor was accompanied by his wife Latha Rajinikanth and two daughters – Aishwarya and Soundarya.

Rajinikanth was given a rousing reception by his fans at the airport here. The actor had a few words with his fans while accepting the wishes of others by waving his hands at them.

Sources close to the family said that the star will take rest at his farmhouse near ECR farmhouse at Kelambakkam for about a month.

The matinee idol is expected to resume the shooting of Rana in the month of September, which is to be produced by Ochre Studios headed by his daughter Soundarya.

Security at the airport was beefed up as a large number of the actor’s fans turned up there when the superstar arrived here by Singapore Airlines.

Festoon, banners and posters have been put up by the actor’s fans along the roads leading to the airport.

His fans across the world and especially in Chennai are celebrating with this great news.

Superstar is going taking rest for one more month as suggested by the doctors and will be joining the sets of Rana from September.

Rajini calls Deepika Padukone

Rajini wishes Selvaraghavan On his Marriage

This time Superstar Rajinikanth has called director Selvaraghavan to wish him on his marriage. It is well known that Selva is the elder brother of his son-in-law Dhanush and Rajini has wished the couple by calling them from Singapore.

Rajini has spoke to Selvaraghavan and his wife Geethanjali and wished them a happy married life. He also expressed his inability to attend the wedding as he was advised to take rest by the doctors. Once Rajini is back in Chennai, the couple is going to visit Rajini for seeking his blessings.

The couple has hosted a grand reception on Monday evening at Mayor Ramanathan Marriage Mandapam, Chennai. The wedding reception was graced by leading personalities from Kollywood and Tamil Nadu politicians.

His elder daughter Aishwarya Dhanush was here in Chennai for Selvaraghavan’s wedding and she is expected to leave to Singapore along with her husband Dhanush to be with her father.

‘Raana’ may miss typical Rajnikanth stunts

It's not confirmed as yet but reports emanating from Singapore say that superstar Rajnikanth has been 'strongly advised' by the doctors not to indulge in risky 'stunt sequences' while he starts shooting for his upcoming film 'Raana' in the near future. Rajnikanth has been advised to make use of a 'duplicate' in such sequences.

On the day 'Raana' was launched (on 29th April), Rajnikanth fell ill and spent two stints at two leading hospitals in Chennai before being air-lifted to Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital, said to be the best in the Asian continent for treatment of kidney-related ailments. Rajnikanth was discharged from the hospital two weeks ago and has been taking 'complete rest' in Singapore ever since.

Rajnikanth's wife Latha Rajnikanth and son-in-law Dhanush, who have since returned to Chennai, have informed the media that Rajnikanth is doing 'fine' and would be back in Chennai very soon.Rajnikanth is expected to land in Chennai within a fortnight's time and is likely to take part in the shooting of 'Raana' either from August or September.

It's in this backdrop that he has been advised not to strain his body vis-a-vis action sequences. He has been told not to insist on doing all the action sequences himself and instead has been 'advised' to make use of a duplicate in such sequences. Rajnikanth has made use of 'duplicate' many times in the past for filming many sequences in his earlier films.

Either way, it's a fact that the audience and the star's fans are waiting with bated breath for Rajnikanth to get into 'shooting mode' sooner than later!

Superstar Rajnikanth to shift to a new address in Chennai?

It is not confirmed as yet but reports emanating from Singapore say that superstar Rajnikanth might just move into a new residence in Chennai from his Poes Garden house for the time being. The star, who is recuperating in Singapore at present, is likely to return to Chennai in a fortnight’s time.

His wife Latha Rajnikanth returned to Chennai the other day amid rumours that she has come to ‘supervise’ the repair and renovation work that is being carried at their Poes Garden residence(situated close to Amma’s residence) in order to change its structure as per ‘Vaastu shastra’. The changed set-up would ensure the health and happiness of its inmates, it is said.

Reports say that Rajnikanth’s relatives and friends are on the look-out for a brand new residence with a huge garden around it. The residence-hunt has been started so that Rajnikanth can stay at the new residence after his return to Chennai from Singapore shortly.

Rajnikanth’s decision to change his address, albeit temporarily, is said to have been influenced by the fact that his high-profile Poes Garden residence is none other than the chief minister herself. While Amma gets many visitors, Rajnikanth’s return is expected to witness a huge surge in the number of fans who visit his house on daily basis.

In order not to create any traffic jam in his locality, Rajnikanth is moving to a new address, it is said. The new house would be airy and would have all the luxuries besides a huge lawn to enable him to chat up with his fans. Rajnikanth would be meeting his fans after he returns to Chennai, it is reliably learnt.

Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad conducted a ‘special pooja’ lasting for 3 days at the famous Amba Bhavani Temple in Kovipuram, Bangalore seeking divine intervention for his younger brother and superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘early return’ to Chennai from Singapore where the latter had gone towards the end of last month go get treated for his kidney-related ailments.

He has also thanked the superstar’s fans worldwide for their sincere prayers which have been answered by God.

“It won’t be long before Rajnikanth starts to shoot for his upcoming film ‘Raana’. This special pooja was aimed at seeking the Goddess’ help in making Rajnikanth fully fit in order to resume shooting once again,” he said.

Superstar Rajnikanth calls both JJ & MK

Some of the lower party cadres call Kalaignar M Karunanidhi as Ayya. On the other hand, J Jayalalitha is called as Amma which everyone knows about.Rajnikanth called ADMK Chief and Chief Minister J Jayalalitha soon after he was discharged from the hospital.

He called her from Singapore to congratulate her on her victory in the 2011 Assembly Election. Rajnikanth was seriously ill when J Jayalalitha won the elections. He couldn’t call Amma and wish her for her victory.

Rajnikanth called her now as he has fully recuperated from his illness. J Jayalalitha said she wanted to see him in Chennai soon for which the Superstar said that he would rest in Singapore for a month and a half before he would come back to Chennai.

Soon after he called the Chief Minister, he also called DMK Leader and Ex-Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to tell him that he has fully recovered. M Karunanidhi also wished him a complete and quick recovery to see him back in Chennai.

Kalaignar M Karunanidhi was the first to visit the hospital to enquire about Rajnikanth’s health in April, when the Superstar was first admitted in the hospital. However, calling both the leaders would help avoid controversy but the same could also attract controversies!
