My films are story based - Madhavan

Madhavan is not keen on doing the remake of his Tanu Weds Manu in Tamil, rather is planning a sequel to it in Hindi..

He says, ‘My films are not typical films. My heroines have a lot more to do than just item numbers. My films are all story-based and the woman's character is very performance-oriented.’


The actor's hit films like Alaipayuthey and Tanu Weds Manu are prime examples of this. There were talks of remaking Tanu Weds Manu in Tamil with Maddy in the lead again. But now, it looks like the sequel in Hindi is priority.

Vettai for December release

Earlier, there were reports that Lingusamy's much-awaited multi-starrer Vettai, starring Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul, will grace theatres for Deepavali. But in an recent interview to a leading daily, director Lingusamy has said that the film will be released in December. "We have to shoot three songs and have some patchwork left for Vettai. We are looking to release it in December," Lingusamy was quoted as saying.

In this film, Madhavan will play the role of a lazy cop. The actor has reportedly put on weight and developed a paunch to suit the character perfectly.

The hit pair of Madhavan and Lingusamy comes together after nearly eight years post their blockbuster Run. Madhavan and Arya will appear as brothers in this film, which is currently progressing in and around Tamil Nadu. According to sources, the characterization of Maddy and his equation with his brother will be among the major highlights of Vettai.

Vettai is produced by Subhash Chandrabose and Lingusamy under their home banner Thirupathi Brothers. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer and Yuvan takes care of the music department.

Madhavan-Arya-Bharath in 'Raajneeti' Tamil Remake

Bollywood blockbuster Raajneeti is the latest movie, which will be remade in Tamil. UTV Motion Pictures is planning to remake the film in Kollywood with Aarya, Madhavan, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj and Bharath in the leads.

Arya might do Ranbir's role in the Tamil version of the hit Hindi multistarrer 

Politics and films go hand-inglove in Tamil Nadu. And, politically-charged films have often created a stir in the state. Based on this, if rumours are to be believed, a Mumbai-based corporate is planning to remake the Bollywood superhit Raajneeti in Tamil. Arya is said to be the frontrunner to play Ranbir Kapoor's role in the Tamil version.

If the move comes through, the film could be among the biggest multistarrers in Tamil cinema as the original had big names like Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif, Naseeruddin Shah and Arjun Rampal in the lead. The Kollywood names currently doing the rounds for the project are Madhavan, Arya, Sathyaraj, Prakash Raj, and Bharath. The studio is looking at big-name directors who can pull-off multistarrers, for Raajneeti. Shankar and Lingusamy seem to be the frontrunners for the project.

"But, there are doubts about Shankar signing on the project as he is currently doing a remake with Nanban and might not be keen on doing another remake immediately," says a source. On the other hand, chances are bright for Lingusamy, as the director's upcoming Vettai is being co-produced by the studio. "He has also inked a threefilm deal with them for his other productions which might land him this flick," adds the source.

Madhavan goes gaga over Vijay’s direction

Madhavan is all happy for the terrific response coming from audiences for his film Vettai. The actor is off to London for a performing a social activity over there. Madhavan will be supporting for a social cause which builds some houses for Habitat and will also meet some important people.

The actor is all excited about Deiva Thirumagal and is looking forward to watch the film. Maddy wished all the team members of Deiva Thirumagal and also confessed that director Vijay is going to stay here for a long time for his quality work.

Before leaving for London Madhavan tweeted- “I think the like of director Vijay of Madarasapattinam fame are the future of Tamil Films. I see a quality in him which is so rarely seen in the current breed of directors.”

He also says: “I loved Madrasapatinam and now I believe he has excelled again in Deiva Thirumagal I can’t wait to see the film. Wish them all the very best and a cracker response from the Tamil Makkal”

All this looks like Maddy is sure going to work with director Vijay in near future.

Vettai trailer gets terrific response!

It looks like UTV is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to promotional activities. Their promotion techniques and strategies they follow will sure make a film strike gold at the box office. The latest is Deiva Thirumagal which has seen promotions at every nook and corner of the state.

UTV not limiting to Deiva Thirumagal has started the promotions with the first look trailer of their forthcoming ventures Muran, Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and Vettai along with Deiva Thirumagal. The theaters which are screening Deiva Thirumagal has witness the loudest claps for Vettai trailer which is outstanding and racy. The highlight of Vettai trailer is the shutter scene which was seen in Lingu and Maddy’s earlier film Run.

The duo has modified that scene which can be seen in the Vettai trailer.

The reworked scene goes this way: Madhavan who plays a cop in the film will be chased by a mafia gang in Tuthukudi and enters a godown with the villains pulling down the shutter. Madhavan looks at the audience and says with a smirk on his face- “Enakkey shutter moodaringla ?”

The audiences enjoyed watching the trailer as the trailer and the punch line were appealing.

UTV snaps all the rights of Vettai

Here comes some big news for Vettai fans!

India’s biggest production house UTV Motion pictures have snapped the theatrical and other rights of Lingusamy’s Vettai.

Vettai has Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles. The film revolves around two brothers settled in Thoothukudi, with the elder one Madhavan working as a police officer. Vettai is an action-packed family entertainer with equal importance for family values and romance. The film is progressing on a brisk pace and is heading towards completion.

Director-producer Linguswamy has decided to release the film in three languages Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

The technical team includes Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, Nirav Shah for cinematography and Anthony Gonsalves for editing.

Linguswamy and his brother Subash Chandra Bose are producing the film under the banner of Thirupathi Brothers.

UTV Motion Pictures are planning to release Vettai in November, 2011.

Madhavan holidays in Hawaii

Madhavan who is busy with his continues schedules have taken a break from his work and went to Hawaii with his family and close friends for a holiday. Maddy along with his wife and son had a great time in Hawaii.  The actor was found enjoying bound less that he did not even touched his handset or go online. For Maddy it was just his family, surf, and the sea in his vacation.

As his son Vedant loves water sports the actor spent all his time swimming, surfing, golfing, snorkeling, and Dolphin spotting. The actor in the recent years turned out to be very busy and was unable to spend his time with his son and so he planned for a holiday with his family which is much needed.

Madhavan is heading back to Mumbai while his family is continuing their holiday in San Francisco. The actor was supposed to join the sets of his forthcoming Bollywood and so he is back
