From then she is very choosy about the movies and is rarely on any sort of controversy. Her popularity gained with the latest hit of Mangatha. Her other films include Katradhu Tamil with Jeeva, Rettai Chuzhi, a cameo appearance in Kho, the latest Engeyum Eppothum. She is booked for the ensuing Thambi Vettothi Sundaram and Aravaan and Maharaja.

We will just have to wait and watch.

Engeyum Eppodhum Movie Review, Rating [3/5]

Cast: Jai, Sharwanand, Anjali, Anuya and others.
Director: M Saravanan
Music: Sathya
Cinematography: Velraj
Producer: AR Murugadoss
Release Date: September 16, 2011
Rating: ★★★☆☆

We often read and hear about road accidents and will not bother to think too much about it. Yes, it a human nature and until and unless one experiences it in his life, he would not know – what it is all about. Well, AR Murugadoss’ first production venture Engeyum Eppodhum has a similar concept in which director Saravanan has fabricated a love tale.

Story:
The film start offs with an accident, where two buses crash at each other on a National Highway in Villipuram. The real story begins with the flashbacks of two couples, Gautham (Sharwanand)-Amudha (Ananya) and Kadhiresan (Jai)-Manimegalai (Anjali). Amudha, who has completed her engineering course, comes to Chennai for an interview and accidentally meets Gautham. As she is not familiar with the city, he helps to reach her destination. They travel together in a city bus and his acts found an admirer in her.

On the other end, there is another love story of Kadhiresan and Manimegalai. While he is a good-hearted man, who works in an automobile company, his ladylove works as a nurse in a hospital and leads the life in reality. Meanwhile, Amudha, who leaves to Tiruchy after the interview, realises that her heart is wandering for someone, whom she met in Chennai a few days ago. Even Gautham is also going through the same phase.

Hence, the lovers-to-be want to meet each other and express their love. While she leaves Tiruchy to meet him, Gautham takes a bus to reach her place. Simultaneously, Kadhiresan and his girlfriend board the same bus to meet his parents, who is in Tiruchy. What happens next should be seen on-screen.

Performance:
Sharwanand as an urban lad has done his best. His mannerisms and attitude in the film are acceptable and his act during his first encounter with Ananya is entertaining. Anjali is cute and her innocence attracts the audience throughout the film. Jai steals the show with his wonderful performance. Indeed, he gets the maximum marks among four. Cinematography by Velraj is good, music by Sathya is not up to the mark. But his background score is impressive, editor Anthony could have mercilessly chopped some scenes in the first half of the film, as it drags at parts. Finally, the captain of the ship, director Sarvanan, who has done a decent job in his first attempt. Indeed, he has lived up to the audience’s expectations. His screenplay is excellent except a few minor mistakes. Nonetheless, he is a newcomer and those errors could be avoided.

Verdict:
A man’s varied emotions could be seen in Engeyum Eppodhum. The movie is engaging, entertaining and has a message.

Cast:Jai, Anjali, Shravanand, Ananya
Direction:Saravanan
Production:A R Murugadoss, Fox Studios

'Engaeyum Eppothum' is directed by debutant Saravanan and marks the debut production venture of AR Murugadoss who is co-producing this film in association with Fox Studios.

The film features an ensemble of cast including Jai, Sharvanand, Anjali and Ananya in the lead roles and expectations are raving high on this multi-starrer, what with the much fanfare at the audio launch of the movie.

The film denotes that anything can happen anytime, including the magic of love can strike one at anytime...

The film revolves around a group of passengers traveling in two different buses, each having their own past and a reason for their travel. The most prominent among these passengers is the love track between Kathiresan (Jai), Manimegalai (Anjali) and the other between Vinay (Saravanandh) and Amudha (Ananya).

Jai is a responsible young person who works as a mechanic and secretly loves his neighbour Anjali, but Anjali is an extremely practical girl and believes that love alone doesn't suffice life. The evolution of their love through these forms the crux of their relationship. Jai and Manimegalai decide to get married and board a bus to meet Jai's parents.

Meanwhile, Ananya seeks the help of a young happy- go- lucky urban guy Saravanandh and love blossoms. They part ways and after thought and contemplation, they each board the bus to visit each other to express their feelings for one another.

However destiny has something in store for all of them, and changes their lives forever through a journey, this is what that forms the story of 'Engaeyum Eppothum'... With promising young talents and a director and producers who believe that the script is the hero, the movie is sure to set a rage among the young...

Rumor Jai and Anjali turns Real time lovers?

Actor Jai had been in and out of his share of controversies. In his stint in the industry, he has faced brickbats, received bouquets and seen some hits and many flops. Jai, who is presently looking forward to his upcoming film ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’ opposite Anjali, is said to be ‘in love’ with the doe-eyed actress.

Except for ‘Subramaniapuram’, which was a successful venture for a variety of reasons, Jai hasn’t had any significant hit film in the past few years but is surprisingly in the reckoning. The actor debuted in a major role with Venkatprabhu’s ‘Chennai 600 028’ which was a runaway hit. Prior to that, he had played Vijay’s brother in ‘Bagavathi’.

Anjali, who debuted opposite Jiiva in ‘Katradhu Tamizh’, acted in many insignificant films before making the viewers sit up and take note of her with an awesome performance in last year’s ‘Angaadi Theru’ directed by Vasantabalan. She is also looking with hope to the box-office performance of ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’, which incidentally is the first production venture of director A.R. Murugadoss.

It is rumoured that Jai and Anjali have come ‘so close’ to each other during the shooting of the film. Insiders, on condition of anonymity, insist that what started off as a close friendship has now taken wings as a full-fledged love affair. Both are always on touch with each other by way of mobiles, it is said.

It’s double delight for Anjali!

Angadi Theru has changed the career graph of Anjali in an upward direction. The actress is coming up two releases very soon and is pinning all hopes on them.
Her forthcoming outings are Thambi Vettothi Sundaram and Karungaali in which she has performance-oriented roles.
On speaking about Karungaali, Anjali says “I film brings a message to youngsters and at the same time it has all commercial ingredients which would appeal all the sections of audiences. Director Kalanjiam has given his best in bringing such a good message oriented film”.
Anjali about Thambi Vettothi Sundaram says “Karan plays the hero and I play the role of a Kanya Kumari girl. I took special care in learning the dialect of that region and thank good it has come out very well. The team has appreciated me for this”.
In short, Thambi Vettothi Sundaram deals with a theme which is inspired from real life incidents that took place in Kanya Kumari while Karungaali is about the sexual problems educated young married couples face and how this can finally end up by taking divorce.

Filmfare Honors for Veera & Kani

It might have been a little disappointment for these actresses for their anticipation over National awards went wrong. But now, it happens to be a heavy downpour of honors for their spellbinding performances. ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram has never left anyone to overtake him when it comes down to awards. The actor has gained ‘Best Actor’ award for his mind-boggling performance in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavanan’ while Anjali bags ‘Best Actress Award’ for her realistically powerful approach to ‘Kani’ character in ‘Angaadi Theru’.

It was double cheers for A.R Rahman as he won ‘Best Music Director Award’ in both Tamil and Telugu for the versions of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ (Ye Maaya Chesavo).
Parthiban walked away winning ‘Best Supporting Actor award’ for his commendable spell in ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ and Saranya Ponvannan as ‘Best Supporting actress’ in ‘Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru’.
