Gautham Menon found Ram's replacement, Not Jeeva

http://thatstelugu.oneindia.in/img/2011/06/26-nani.jpg
Gautham Vasudev Menon has found a replacement for Ram, who opted out of the Telugu version of his trilingual, which is titled 'Neethane En Ponvasantham' in Tamil. And it's not Jiiva, the protagonist of the Tamil version as reported earlier.

Instead, the director will film the Telugu portions with Naani of 'Ashta Chemma' fame, who was seen playing a crucial role in 'Veppam', a movie produced by Gautham Menon. Impressed by his skills, Gautham has roped in Nani for the project," sources say.

Aditya Roy Kapur is playing the lead role in the Hindi version of this trilingual love story, while Samantha is the heroine of all the three versions. "It is about an engineering student falling in love with a psychology student. It will be as sweet as Gautham's earlier love stories," sources say.

AR Rahman is touted to compose the music for 'Neethane En Ponvasantham'. Shooting for the film is expected to complete by the beginning of 2012, after which Gautham is scheduled to start 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his first movie with Vijay.

It is time for Ilayathalapathy Vijay to test waters in Tollywood. Vijay has conquered Kollywood market with his outstanding performance and good acting skills but has never tried to test his luck in neighboring industries. Now Vijay has eyed on Tollywood box office and is gearing to hit the Telugu screens with his next prestigious outing Nanban. Though some of his earlier films were dubbed, he could not able to leave his mark in Telugu.

The producers of Nanban, Gemini Film Circuit are now in plans of promoting Vijay in Andhra and in order to conquer Andhra market now all Vijay old films are suddenly getting dubbed in Telugu. His contemporaries Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana and director Shankar too have a massive market for their films in Andhra. Now it is only with Vijay who need to have proper dubbing market.

Apart from the biggies like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, Vijay is going to join the bandwagon of dubbing stars of Kollywood other heroes like Suriya, Vikram, Ajith, Karthi, Simbu, Srikanth and Jeeva also captured the Tollywood market with the dubbing versions.

Nanban is now going to release in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously on January 14, 2012.

Review: Vanthaan Vendraan  disappoints

After he made promising films such as Jeyamkondaan and Kanden Kadhalai, it's natural to expect a lot from director R Kannan. This time, he has chosen to do an action-adventure-thriller of sorts, (He came, he conquered), under the aegis of Vasan Visual Ventures. Unfortunately, what may look good on paper doesn't quite work the same way on screen.

The film begins with two young boys, half-brothers, who are constantly at each other's throats. Small events lead to bigger ones and eventually the older one throws the younger into a well and runs away.

Cut to Mumbai some years later, and the dashing, suave Ramana (Nandha), a man of few words, flaunting designer-wear and a host of goons and looking every inch a hero -- except that he isn't. He is, in fact, very much the villain with his own set of enemies and ruling, a la Varadharajan Mudaliar, almost the whole of Mumbai courtesy several Mumbaiites who speak Tamil fluently.

Enter our hero Arjun (Jiiva), a would-be boxer but currently lover, who moves heaven and earth for an audience with the much-feared don, and gets it. Once he's allowed to outline his problem, though, he embarks on a long story about his ambitions and his girlfriend Anjana (Tapsee), with whom he sings numerous duets to Thaman's music while frolicking beside some truly beautiful waterfalls (courtesy P G Muthiah's camera-work). In the end, Arjun has just one proposition to make, which comes as no surprise and all hell breaks loose.

Unfortunately, the screenplay falls apart spectacularly. The mildly engaging first half, with the antics of Santhanam, works slightly, but in the second half with its supposed cat-and-mouse games, silly plot twists and melodramatic climax, you can do little but sigh with disappointment. The sudden change of heart of various characters adds to one's dismay.

Pattukkottai Prabhakar's dialogues don't really add much pep. Jiiva more or less sleep-walks through his role while Tapsee mostly smiles and smirks through hers. Nandha comes off as the most stylish of them all and appears to be enjoying his role. The rest -- Malavika, Nizhalgal Ravi, Rahman et al -- have practically no part to play.
As for the hero, he does not, unfortunately, conquer much.

Vandhaan Vendraan passed censors with clean 'U'

http://i.indiaglitz.com/tamil/news/vandhan80911_1.jpg
Jiiva's forthcoming 'Vandhaan Vendraan' is much-expected by fans and the film is touted to hit the screens on September 16. Today, the film passed the censor board and was given a clean 'U' certificate. It is said that the board members thoroughly enjoyed watching this film.

The film directed by Kannan has Jiiva and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles with Nanda playing the baddie. Santhanam is on-board to provide comic relief and tunes are set in by Thaman.

Jiiva plays a boxer and it is said that Taapsee plays a chirpy young girl in the first half whereas there's a drastic change in her character as the film progresses. With a promising director who believes the script to be his first hero and young talents, 'Vandhaan Vendraan' is definitely one wholesome entertainer to look forward to this month.

Jai jumps into ongoing Jeeva - Simbu Controversy

http://entertainment.oneindia.in/img/2011/08/24-jai-240811.jpeg
Jai has intervened in the ongoing spat between Jeeva and Silambarsan. The actor, who has worked in both the stars' films, has urged the Ko actor not to talk against Simbu in public.

Jai questions Jeeva's claims, where he indirectly said that Silambarasan backstabbed him. They were never friends and how can one stab in the back, when they are not good pals, fumes the actor. He urges the Rowthiram star to take cue from the Bollywood actors, where they support each other. His words send wrong message to the public that the Tamil stars are not united, he further adds.

Talking about the nature of his good friend Simbu, Jai says that he has been a good friend of him since 10 years. Indeed, the Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa star has been his pillar of strength during his bad phase and has helped him to get roles in his films.

It was all started after Silambarasan and Bharath fight came out in public. While the latter accused the former of limiting his role in Vaanam, the former hit back him by saying that the movie bosses know the market and what sells in the Kollywood. Based on that formula they might have chopped his scenes. Later, Jeeva entered their controversy and took potshots against Simbu.

Jeeva is all set to hit the screens for the fourth time this year with Vanthaan Vendran. Though the film is ready to hit the screens but the release dates of the film are not finalized as they are waiting for Mankatha’s release. In fact the team doesn’t want to have a clash with Mankatha and wanted to release only after a gap of 2-3 weeks.

Meanwhile the Telugu version of the film which is titled as Vachadu Gelichadu is going see an audio launch tomorrow in Hyderabad. Jeeva is going to grace the audio launch in Hyderabad. The actor is slowly hitting the Tollywood market with a line of releases of his films. His film Rangam was well accepted by Telugu audiences and also hit 100 days mark.

Vanthaan Vendraan is an action entertainer, written and directed by R. Kannan and features Jeeva, Nandha and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles.

Jeeva tweeted “Vandhan Vendraan ready to hit the screens jus waiting for Mankatha release dates. Will release VV after 2-3 weeks from release date of Mankatha”

Controversy Continues- Simbu's reaction on Jeeva's Statement

http://thenaali.com/cpanel/Editor/images/articles/heros/simbu-jeeva.jpg
In a recent press meet, the media quizzed Jiiva on 'Ko' and how he bagged the offer after Simbu walked out of the project. They further asked the star to comment on his relationship with Simbu. Apparently angered by this, Jiiva shot back saying, "Simbu and I have never been good friends. Healthy competition between film stars is always welcome; however, Simbu indulges in back stabbing which is no way healthy".

This open comment by Jiiva targeting a co-star shocked many.

Reacting to this, STR asked his fans to ignore the comments made against him and further requested them to stay calm.

Jiiva's 'Vandhaan Vendraan' is gearing up for a release, while he also has 'Mugamoodi' and 'Nithya' with Mysskin and Gautham Menon respectively. Simbu on the other hand has 'Osthi' that is gearing up for a diwali release. He also has 'Vettai Mannan', 'Podaa Podi' and 'Kettavan' in the pipeline.

All is not well with Nanban

So far the shoot of Nanban is progressing in cool and calm manner but suddenly on Sunday tension prevailed on the sets of the film as a group of people entered the shooting spot and messed up the location.
Nanban which is currently progressing at a college near Chennai has suddenly witnessed a crowd of local residents who arrived to the shooting spot to have a glance of Vijay and the rest of the team. Vijay and Shankar obliged their request and spent some time with them but the crowd refused to leave the place and didn’t even let the crew to continue with the shoot. The situation turned out to be worst and resulted in a verbal duel. By moving a step forward the crowd even damaged the set properties.
With the arrival of the police the situation came into control and now an extra cover of protection is now being provided to Nanban team.
Well, we as fans have to respect our stars and by making the situations messy will not fetch any good for us.

Nanban director Shankar’s first ever remake which has Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth and Ileana in the lead roles is currently progressing in Chennai.

Jeeva along with Srikanth were spotted at the Koyambedu water tank for the film’s shoot that took place for about three days. The team canned few important scenes of the film over here. The scenes shot at this spot are Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth spend some quality time in here during their college days and some scenes of Jeeva and Srikanth will be visualized in the film. It is also known that these scenes appear towards the introductory part of the film.
