Even as reports appearing in the media in the last couple of days tend to suggest that Thala Ajith's next film after Billa-2 might be produced by A.M Rathnam, conflicting reports are still emanating as to who exactly would be making the star's upcoming venture.

Ajith has been on cloud nine following the mega-success of his latest and landmark 50th film Mankatha. Trade circles point out that despite Ajith's plea to his fans a few months back to disband and dissolve all the fans' clubs operating in his name and concentrate in taking care of their families and themselves, the opening witnessed by Mankatha was nothing short of being termed as 'phenomenal'.

Billa-2, said to be Ajith's dream film would be a sequence to his 2007 hit film Billa but unlike the usual sequel films, the film's story won't commence from where the first part ended; instead, the script would dig deep to find out the reasons and the backdrop which were behind a commoner turning into a dreaded don.

It was reported some time back that his next film would be produced by A.M Ratnam and that he would be paid Rs.17 crores as fee, becoming the highest paid Tamil actor after superstar Rajnikanth, whom he idolizes. In all likelihood, the film might be directed by Shankar, the 'superstar' director of Kollywood. It is also stated that 'Jayam' Raja, fresh from directing Vijay in Velayudham, might direct Ajith for the first time by making the remake of Mahesh Babu's Telugu film Thookkudu in Tamil with Ajith playing the lead.
