An unidentified armed man entered Karan's residence in Chennai and escaped with a four-sovereign gold chain, after threatening the actor's 70-year-old father with dire consequences.
According to police, Karan's father Kesavan was alone at the house on South Mada Street at Koyambedu when a man knocked on the door and forcibly entered. The trespasser with a knife in his hand threatened Kesavan and escaped with the gold chain, it is said.
Following a complaint from Kesavan, the Koyambedu police rushed to the spot. A police officer said they had registered a case and were conducting investigations from all possible angles.
Sources said that Karan was shooting for a film at an outdoor location when the incident took place. "He was initially shocked when he came to know about the robbery but was later relieved to know that his father was safe," sources added.
