Bail denied to Sun TV COO Hans Raj Saxena

A court here Friday dismissed the bail petition of W. Hans Raj Saxena, chief operating officer (COO) of Sun Pictures, a division of listed Sun TV Network Ltd.

Saxena was arrested Sunday on charges of cheating and intimidating a film distributor.

The bail application was dismissed as the prosecution said the investigation was at a beginning stage and the accused could threaten the witness.

The prosecution also said a second first information report (FIR) had been filed against Saxena and he should not be given bail.

Sun TV is promoted by Kalanidhi Maran, son of late DMK leader Murasoli Maran and grand nephew of DMK president M. Karunanidhi.

Film distributor T.S. Selvaraj had complained that Saxena cheated him of around Rs.8 million and threatened him when he asked for the money in connection with the distribution of Tamil movie Theerada Vilayattu Pillai which has Vishal in the lead roles. Sun TV Monday said it was studying the FIR against Saxena and taking legal recourse
